Hi!

I am a mother of two daughters and a resident of Dorado, PR for 7 years. In the summer of 2010, we did some improvements to our home that included the construction of a pool.

As soon as we finished the construction, I grew very concerned for security of the children around the pool area. I wanted to take all the security measures, so we could minimize the possibility of accidents due to the new pool. We installed a pool fence, an alarm in the entrance door of the pool area, and started looking for swimming classes for the kids.

I looked for swimming classes in the municipality where we reside and could not find any program that included survival skills. A friend told me about the Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) course with the instructor Wanda Blanco, and when I saw the videos taken of her students during the program, I could not believe the techniques that the students were able to learn in order to survive around water.

They did not only learn to swim; but also how to survive in case of an accident. The Summer our pool was built, we enrolled our oldest daughter in the ISR course and she loved it. She was 20 months old and she learned to swim, rollback to float; float to breathe, and flip over to continue swimming towards the wall.

Since the first class, I was amazed by not only the professionalism of the Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) program, but also it was impressive to see how babies and toddlers were monitored and guided to develop survival skills from an early age within a secure environment.  Parents, grandparents, caregivers who accompanied their children to the classes were baffled by the results from the very first weeks of the program. I invite you to see how babies can float by themselves.

After this experience with my daughter, I got so enthusiastic about the program that I wanted to be part of the ISR Instructor’s Team.

It was my desire to become an ISR instructor in order to give other parents the joy of the experience and the peace of mind to know that your son or daughter will be safe because they know how to respond in case of an accident.  Also, I wanted to make the program more accessible to the residents of Dorado and the bordering municipalities.

As part of the ISR Instructor Team, I work everyday towards our mission: “No one more child Drowns”.

My daughters are most important in my life, and their security is my number one priority. Be like me and give your children the skills to be able to react, survive, and save themselves.

Let’s learn how to swim and stay afloat together. See you at my pool!
